First of science fun...
Our yummy version of a robin's nest..
A cell model! The plastic bag is the cell membrane (protective wall), the beans are the organelles (small cell parts), and a fruit snack in the middle of it all is the nucleus (control center). This really helped her to remember the parts of a cell.
We collected and dried leaves one beautiful Fall day just for fun..
This experiment was set up to find out which foods were acidic and which were not?
First, we boiled red cabbage to get the purple colored water.
If a food is acidic, the acid turns the purple cabbage water pink.
This was neat and interesting. We both enjoyed it!
Last weeks science subject? Atoms and molecules. We got to make our own models of these too!
The red grapes represent the hydrogen atoms, the green grapes are the oxygen atoms, and the toothpicks show them "bonding" to make a water molecule.
She asked Dad if he wanted a glass of h2o and gave him one full of these 'water molecules'. We enjoyed a good laugh at his surprise!
On to Art fun and sensory play!
Trying everything I can to teach him his colors. We are slowly but surely getting there:)
She's performing a shadow play of sorts for little brother. I thought it a pretty creative idea. It kept them both busy a looong time too, always a plus!!

We learned about Eli Whitney inventing the cotton gin. I added lots of little green pieces of paper to a piece of cotton and had her try to remove them to show how long it really took them to take out cotton seeds before the machine was invented.
